Testosterone: description and norm in the body

Testosterone - a sex hormone. Formed from cholesterol testes in men, in small amounts created by the ovaries in women. Also in small quantities produced by the adrenal cortex. It defines the basic physiological processes. It is playing a crucial role in the development of the male body.

The hormone promotes the accumulation of muscle mass, burning excess fat and regulate bone density. Participates in the timely formation of secondary male sexual characteristics. Normal testosterone hormone in the body is regulated by the characteristics of each men separately and dependent on age. At the age of 13 to 18 years the rate is 0,98-38,5 nmol / L, the number of adult males ranges from 8.64 to 29 nmol / L. With the maturation decreases the amount of testosterone. Female rate is low: 0,39-1,95 nmol / L.
Testosterone and food
